OUR STORY

South Westland Salmon Farm is nestled on the bush edge of the stunning Paringa Valley, surrounded by vistas of the mountains, the river and the valley below. There is minimal impact on the environment & sustainability is one of the key factors to success. The Salmon Farm was originally set-up and ponds constructed back in 1986 by Brenda & Graham Monk & Richard Mee. Once the salmon stocks and ponds were established the cafe was built and opened in 1995. All the fish are processed onsite in the custom built packhouse.. for both the cafe meals and takeaway portions. The main focus is producing the premium Cold Smoked Salmon.

Cold Smoked Salmon

The cool water flows from the mountains to Waituna Creek and through the salmon ponds, providing a clean habitat for the salmon in which in turn yields excellent flavoured, firm fleshed fish that are naturally free from disease.

No antibiotics are used at any stage.

The salmon farming and processing side of the operation is very simple, based on commonsense principals of cleanliness and hygiene and low stocking density to produce the best quality & freshness.

From these fish we are able to produce our slow cured, premium Cold Smoked Salmon
